- File Extensions indicate type of Form
- .FMS - A Form that already has been made and may or may not be filled in.
- .FM_ - A Master Form
- .FM@ - A Form that has been saved by Quick Forms in an Ascii format.
- These forms do not have any formatting (such as bold, italics, etc.)
-
- Fill In a Form - Open any Form in FILL IN Mode. Once a form has been made in
- the MASTER Mode, it may be filled in in this mode. All
- characters of the Master Form are Protected and cannot be
- written over except the Underline Character.
-
- New Master Form - Start a New Master Form.
-
- Edit Master Form - Edits a Master Form. If a .FMS or .FM@ form is opened and
- saved in this mode it will become a Master Form with the
- .FM_ extension (the old files will still exist). All
- characters of the .FM@ (or an Ascii File) will become
- protected. However, when a .FMS form is loaded in this Mode,
- the unprotected characters (if any) will remain unprotected.
- It is not recommended to load .FMS forms in Master Mode (see
- the manual).

- Delete a Form - Deletes a Form or File.
- .COM and .EXE Files cannot be deleted.
-
- Exit - Exits to DOS Pressing CTRL X will also exit to DOS
-
- The bottom of the Page shows the Files in Alaphabetical Order. There are two
- pages for a total of 100 Files. If there are more than 100 the count
- will show >100 in light red. Only 100 files can be shown.
- Use the cursor keys to select a File.
-
- ALT H - Is always available for Help.
- Help is context sensitive. That is it will be given for whatever
- area of the program that you are in.
-
- ALT C - Will allow you to change the path or drive so that you can load and
- save files from different paths and drives.
-
- ALT F - Toggles back and forth between Quick Form Files and All Files (only
- 100 can be shown). When All Files are shown you can load any Ascii file
- as long as it fits the parameters of 63 rows by 136 columns maximum.

- ALT P - Use to select the Printer you are using. If you can't find yours,
- experiment to find the one closest to it. Selecting PLAIN PRINTER
- will work on almost any printer but will only print the Ascii
- characters and will not support Bold, Italics, etc.

- ESC - Will cancel any activity that you are doing.
-

- When saving a MASTER FORM a .BAK file will be made if the form already exists.
-
- When saving a form in FILL IN mode or saving as an Ascii file a .BAK file
- will not be made.

- Use the cursor keys to select a Printer. If your printer does not appear
- then experiment to find the one that will work the best.

- Selecting PLAIN PRINTER will work on almost any printer but will not support
- formating (Bold, Italics, etc.)

- On the right of the screen will appear the Printer that is currently selected.
- The print styles that are supported will also be shown.

- The program does not inhibit print styles when you are making a form. So make
- sure that if you are using styles such as 'Double Height' that your printer
- will support them.

- Used to change the Path and/or Drive to load and save forms.
-
- The Path is limited to 36 characters. If your Path is longer than this the
- whole Path may not appear. If this is the case use CTRL-E to erase the Path
- and enter the Drive letter with a ":" (this is the same as the default Path).
-
- For example if C:\FIRSTDIR\SECONDDIR\THIRDDIR is the default Path then
- C: would be the same thing. (see your DOS manual)
-
- You must have a valid Path before you can exit.
-
- If you get too confused just enter a ? to return to the default Path.
-

- Warning - If your computer has only one floppy drive (A:) DO NOT try
- to change the Path to Drive (B:)

- Even Microsoft WORD doesn't handle this one.

- The Form Name can be any name accepted by DOS. The extension is added
- automatically.

- is a New Form in which case you should save it again using
- a Y in this field.

- The limits to a Quick Form are 63 Rows by 136 Columns.
-
- Quick Forms will attempt to load any File that is not a .FMS or .FM_ File
- as if it were an ASCII File. (.COM and .EXE Files will not be loaded)
-
- Since the maximum number of characters in a Row is 136, Quick Forms expects to
- find a Carrige Return and Line Feed by the time that the count reaches 137
- in each Row. If this condition is not met then the File is considered to be
- non conforming and loading stops. However if the ASCII File that you are
- loading has more than 63 Rows, the File will be loaded but only the first
- 63 Rows.

- Be Careful when loading any File other than a Quick Forms File.
- Make Sure that it is an ASCII file that you want to edit using Quick Forms.

- Use the cursor keys to select the number of columns.

- If you are changing the number of columns make sure that you do not reduce the
- number to a value less than the text area of your Form.

- The number of columns will be saved with your Form.

- Pressing the letter "C" will clear the counter back to 1

- The default values for Printing are Bi-Directional and 10 Characters per inch
- Use the cursor keys to change this.

- Choose Uni-Directional (Prints from left to right only) when your Form
- has tables and charts to ensure that vertical columns will be in alignment.

- Move the cursor to the top left of the area that you want the text copied to.

- Press the INSERT key. The block of text will be copied to the new area. The
- old area 'Will Not Be Erased' but parts of it may be copied over.
- NOTE: In FILL IN Mode only Unprotected characters will be COPIED and
- then only if they are going to an Unprotected area.

- You may copy the block of text as many times as you want in as many places as
- you want. You can use this to create interesting patterns.

- An Asterisk will appear at the top left position of the GRID.

- Use the Cursor, Tab, and Enter Keys to position the cursor to the positions
- along the top and left sides of the GRID area where you want lines to be drawn.

- Press S for Single Lines
- Press D for Double Lines
- Press any other letter key to place an Asterisk at the position. The size and
- layout of the GRID will be determined by where you place the Asterisks.

- HINT: If you are making a GRID that will have Column Headings you may want to
- lay out and position the Column Headings first and then draw the

- Use the cursor keys to DUPLICATE the Character in the Duplicate Buffer. This
- character is shown on the 25th line. To put a character in the Duplicate
- Buffer press Pause and put the cursor under the desired character and press
- SHIFT ENTER. (a click will be heard to confirm this) When not in DUPLICATE
- Mode, pressing SHIFT ENTER at anytime will do this. You can DUPLICATE all
- of the IBM Extended Character Set.

- SHIFT + (one of the cursor keys) will DUPLICATE the character in that direction
- from the cursor up to the first position that is not a Space.
-
- Press E to Erase. The cursor keys will now Erase anything in their path.
- Press P to Pause. You may now move the cursor to a new location.

- This function FILLS all Empty Spaces in an area with the character in the
- Duplicate Buffer. (Anything else is left untouched)

- Position the cursor at the top left of the area that you want to FILL.

- Then do a CTRL-F7

- Use the cursor keys to highlight the area that you want to FILL.

- Then Press END to FILL area.
-
- Press ESC to Cancel.
- Press another CTRL-F(key) to select another function.

- QUICK FORMS HELP PRINT ENTIRE FORM OR FILL IN ONLY Page of

- This option appears only when you are in FILL IN Mode. You have the
- choice here to print the entire form, or just the parts you have filled in.

- If you choose "Entire Form" then everything will be printed. Choose this
- option if you are printing on blank paper.
-
- If you choose "Fill In Only" then only the parts that you have 'filled in'
- will be printed. Choose this option if you are printing on a 'pre-printed'
- form. Only the blanks will be filled in (none of the Master Form will be
- printed).
-
- Use the TAB Key to toggle back and forth between the two choices. Your
- choice here is remembered between sessions.

- Press ENTER when you are finished.
